Expectations

For 6th graders, starting junior high school can be a BIG change that requires a lot of adjustment.  There are many new classrooms, lockers, expectations, rules, and guidelines for junior high school students.  The student handbook outlines junior high policies for detentions, lunch detentions, B.E.A.R.S., dress code, tardies, grading, late work and much more.  This handbook is available on the junior high home page.  In addition, I have provided a few helpful links below to review the expectations for students in 6th Grade.

Homework

In Sixth Grade Science, you are provided with time to work on all assignments in class.  However, all students work at different paces.  If you do not complete an activity in class, you may need to finish the assignment at home or during study hall.  Occasionally, there will also be assignments that are specially assigned as homework.  It is important to listen to class instructions regarding your assignments and to write your homework in your assignment notebook each day!  It is also a great idea to record due dates into your assignment notebook!  The schedule below will often change as the week proceeds to adjust to student pace and school schedule changes or events.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Unit #2 Assignments

In Unit #2: What is Life?, students use a teacher-created workbook located in Section 3 of their science binder.  Students may bring the entire binder home to work on any assignment that they do not complete in class.  It is better to bring the entire binder, as there may be resources in the binder to help the student complete their assignment.  There is no textbook for this unit, but resources are available on this web site in the Unit Materials section.
